Rocky
August 20, 2010

Sylvester Stallone, Talia Shire, Burgess Meredith, Carl Weathers, Burt Young; MGM/UA; Directed by John G. Avildsen - Rated PG; 119 minutes; 1976

In 1976, when ROCKY, a low-budget film with an unknown actor named Sylvester Stallone, won the Academy Award® for Best Picture, it was as emotional a finale as the film itself. A two-bit boxer gets a second chance in life by being offered an impossible shot at the heavyweight title. The story of how Rocky goes the distance is one of the warmest, most exciting and stirring movies of all time.

Inception update - Please check with theater first

We just wanted to emphasize and make sure you knows it's very important to double-check with the theater first before trying to see it.

We are getting reports that theater showtimes are still being reported as inaccurate in some locations.

We have been told by our contacts that the captioning discs definitely have been mailed out to most theater locations and they should have it by now.

Some locations now have it and already have it set up, others may have received it but haven't put it into their work flow yet. Others are still waiting. Checking with the theater makes sure time isn't wasted and frustration is avoided.

Thank you for using Captionfish! We apologize for the inconvenience.

Captioned Discs for Inception ships to Theaters today

Hello everyone! We've been informed that the captioning for Inception has been finished and the discs have been pressed by Datasat. These pressed discs ship out to theaters today and should reach most locations sometime tomorrow.

Additionally, many theaters do not update the schedule during mid-week so information on whether a theater is showing Inception captioned or not is still subject to each location. As a precaution, we recommend you contact your theater in advance to make sure they have received the captioned discs and are showing it.

We hope this update helps and apologize for any inconvenience as a result of these events which are out of our control.

Thank you for using Captionfish and we'll do our best to keep everyone updated on this situation as it develops.

Rear Window® Captioned version of Inception delayed

Due to some issues with getting the materials necessary to generate the caption discs, WGBH has announced that the Rear Window® Captioned release of Inception has been delayed until 7/26.

We've received several reports from people who have gone to theaters advertising captioned showtimes of this film only to be told that the disc hasn't arrived yet.

If showtimes are listed on Captionfish for dates before 7/26, please call the theater in advance of your departure to make sure they've received the caption disc.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sneak Preview of Captionfish's iPhone app

Hello everyone!

Check out the sneak preview screenshot above for the different features that the iPhone app will have.

Interest in a Captionfish iPhone app has been very high and we are happy to report that development on the Captionfish iPhone app is moving along smoothly and nearing completion!

We've wanted to develop an app for quite some time but also wanted to think through what we could do as an unique immersive iPhone experience that doesn't simply just repurpose the same information onCaptionfish's website. iPhone users can see Captionfish.com just as well in MobileSafari, so there had to be something more there that would be consistent with what people would expect from an iPhone app.

Because of the technical complexity of being in a dynamic "on the go" environment, a brief beta test will be done to ensure quality of data at various locations around the US. When the test is done and any potential issues are addressed, we'll start the process of submitting to Apple's iTunes.

We're excited! We hope you are too.
